Kathmandu Valley Ridge Trek Overview

Kathmandu Valley Ridge Trek is a short and exciting excursion through the fantastic trail around the Kathmandu valley. It is an excellent way to experience trekking, which is suitable for travelers looking for an easy trail with family groups with senior citizens and kids too. The trail guides through the Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park to the isolated village of Chisapani and finally, it connects to the globally renowned tourist destination Nagarkot. It offers you a refreshing trip and allows you an opportunity to explore the Himalayan views and witness the cultural aura of Bhaktapur Durbar Square.

The trek begins from Sundarijal, which is a watershed area with cascading waterfalls. The trail is quite mixed as you encounter the ethnic Tamang villages like Mul Kharka, Chisapani, and Kattike on the way. The splendid route to the Chisapani village and the ethnic hospitality you get is magnificent. Stretching to Nagarkot, the Himalayan views of Ganesh Himal, Langtang range, Manaslu, Jungal Himal, Rolwaling peak, and the surroundings offer enticing experiences to witness along the trek. Nagarkot is such a destination for travelers that nature lovers prefer to be there to explore the sunrise views over the snowy peaks and sunset views from the hill ridge.

The itinerary of the Kathmandu valley ridge trek extends the trek to Nala-Banepa from Nagarkot descending through the magnificent route inside the woods. The view of terraced hill ridges and scattered houses in the surroundings looks magnificent. At the concluding part of the trip, you get a chance to explore the culturally loaded town of Bhaktapur. The ancient temples, museums, historical palaces, stone, and wooden sculptures are great to witness and explore.

Meals During the Kathmandu Valley Trekking 

The facilities en route to around ridge is well developed. You can enjoy typical Nepali food, different ethnic cuisines as well as all types of international cuisine (Tibetan, Continental, Italian, Indian, etc.) from pizza and Chips to apple pie. You can even enjoy hot chocolates, a variety of bread, a variety of drinks, and snacks. Breakfast of the day will be provided from the teahouse/lodge menu where you spent your night. Lunch will be served on the way to the destination, and dinner, and breakfast in the teahouse where you will spend the night. A welcome dinner, a farewell dinner, and breakfast will be provided during your stay in Kathmandu.

Accommodation During the Kathmandu Valley Treks 

All accommodations for Valley Ridge trek are in hotel/lodges on a twin sharing basis included in the trip cost and are chosen based on the standard of hygiene, the standard of service and food, location, etc. During the trip, you will spend three nights in a 3-star hotel, We will be staying in a three-star hotel in Kathmandu and during your trekking you will spend 2 nights in a standard hotel/guesthouse. If you are a solo traveler, you will share a room with someone else of the same sex of your group. If you prefer a single room, you may indicate your preference and get single rooms on request by paying a single supplement cost.

Upon your arrival at Tribhuvan International Airport (KTM), you will be welcomed by a representative from Adventure Club Trek. After sorting out your custom formalities (visa and so on), you will be transferred to your respective hotel in Adventure Club Trek’s private vehicle. After resting for some time at your Hotel, you will attend an orientation about your trek led by the trekking leader over a welcome dinner. Overnight in Kathmandu.

On the second day, you will discover the medieval cultural prosperity of Kathmandu city. It has got ancient temples and stupas, which are included in the UNESCO world heritage sites. The Pashupathinath temple (Hindu pilgrimage destination), Kathmandu Durbar Square (an open museum), Buddhanath Stupa, and Swayambhunath Stupa are the major highlights of a day tour in Kathmandu. Exploring these excellent cultural sites, we drive back to the hotel and prepare for the trekking.

After breakfast, we take a one-hour drive from Kathmandu to Sundarijal, which is a watershed area of Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. Obtaining an entry permit, we begin to hike through an absolutely fantastic trail exploring the waterfalls. Walking about an hour gradually, we reach Mul Kharka, which is an ethnic Tamang village. We pass the village and the trail escorts us through nature, where we don't see any human settlements. The striking valley, hill ridges, and Himalayan views are the usual sceneries. Following the enticing trail, we reach Chisapani after about 4 hours of excursion. It is also a gateway to the Helambu valley and can connect the Gosaikunda Lake.

Leaving Chisapani in the morning after breakfast, we keep Nagarkot in our mind as today's destination. Again, the trail is amazing and goes through the pristine woods. The trail is quite wide and includes downhill and uphill routes. We have our lunch at Kattike, which is a remarkable town on the way towards Nagarkot. The Ganesh Himal range and Langtang range can be explored from the lunch point. Spending a while, we begin to take an uphill route all the way to Nagarkot, which is a world-renowned Himalayan viewpoint, a place located above Bhaktapur. The sunset view is another charm for today before taking a rest at the hotel.

The Himalayan peaks including some of the peaks of the Everest chain, Ganesh Himal range, Langtang range, Jugal Himal, Rolwaling peaks, and Number Himal can be explored from Nagarkot hill station. The Himalayan scenery can be seen from the hotel itself. Then we have breakfast and depart from there. Hiking through the pristine woods, and magnificent countryside above Bhaktapur, we conclude the excursion at Nala-Banepa and take a drive to Bhaktapur Durbar Square. It is an ancient Newari town with a medieval stone and wooden sculptures, temples, squares, and museums. Exploring the historical facts of Bhaktapur, we drive back to Kathmandu and transfer to the hotel.

Our Adventure ends here. A representative from the Adventure Club Trek will accompany you and see you off at Tribhuvan International airport a few hours before the scheduled flight to your home.
