Kathmandu -Lumbani and Pokhara Tour

About Trip

Nowhere in the world are there so many UNESCO-designated World Heritage Sites situated so closely together as in Kathmandu and its immediate surroundings.  This tour of just eight days brings the visitor first to four of them in Kathmandu: historic Durbar Square, Pashupatinath, Swayambhunath (the "Monkey Temple"), and Buddhanath (the world's largest Buddhist shrine).  We then travel to the lakeside city of Pokhara, from which an unforgettable early-morning visit to Sarangkot will reward us with panoramic views of the Annapurna Himalaya, including such peaks as Machhapuchhre, Annapurna II, Dhaulagiri, and Lamjung.  Last but not least, we visit yet another UNESCO World Heritage Site, Lumbini, where Siddhartha Gautama (the Buddha)was born in 623 BC.  From here it is a short drive to nearby Kapilavastu, the capital city of the ancient Shakya kingdom, where Buddha lived until the age of 29.  When we return to Kathmandu we shall bring with us a deeper understanding of Nepal's rich and varied cultural history, as well
as a wealth of unforgettable images and memories.
