Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Tour by Heli

Duration: 8 Days

Helicopter tour of the Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes is a highly recommended adventure, one that you cannot miss when you are in Nepal. This 8-day long trip combines sightseeing of the UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kathmandu with a short trek in the Everest region followed a thrilling helicopter tour of the Everest Base Camp, Kala Patthar, and Gokyo Lakes.  The helicopter tour is the main attraction of the trip, however, visiting various religious and World Heritage Sites in the capital city, getting to know the diverse culture of the different groups of people and their lifestyle truly completes this trip.

Our journey starts from Kathmandu where you’ll visit World Heritage sites like the Boudhanath, Swayambhunath, Pashupatinath and Patan Durbar Square, one of the three Durbar Squares in the Kathmandu Valley. Each of these sites defines the history of the diverse culture that makes Nepal so unique from other countries. We then take the scenic flight from Kathmandu to Lukla which offers views of Himalayan ranges. Our short trek in the Everest region starts once we land at Lukla.

We cross many high ridges with picturesque views of Everest and other mountain ranges to reach Namche Bazaar, the Sherpa capital. We spend a day in Namche to acclimatize, and the next day we board a helicopter to Everest Base Camp.  The chopper stops at Kala Patthar and Gokyo Lakes allowing us to spend some quality time at these locations. From Kala Patthar, enjoy an excellent 360-degree panoramic spread of mountains like Nuptse (7, 861m/ 25,791 ft.), Ama Dablam (6,812 m/ 22,350 ft.), Lobuche (6,119m/20075 ft.) and Mt. Everest (8,848m/29,029 ft.)

At Gokyo, we enjoy the tranquil emerald waters of Gokyo Lakes, taking a dip is highly advised against, the extremely cold waters can have the severely adverse effect on your body.  We will also enjoy the sights of the Khumbu glacier and Icefall region, and the stunning Khumbu Valley during our helicopter tour.

Everest Base Camp and Gokyo Lakes Tour by Heli-8 Days is an ideal trip for those who want to experience trekking in the Everest region and step foot on its major landmarks-Kala Patthar, Everest Base Camp and Gokyo valley, but do not have the physical strength or the time for it.

For those who want more of a trekking experience in the Everest region but also a helicopter tour of the Khumbu Himalaya, Everest Base Camp Heli Trek-11 Days is a good option.  Everest Helicopter Tour-1 Day is an excellent option for those who want to get to see the Khumbu Himalaya in a single day.
